Gesshō Chō Galleries

Gesshō (1772-1832) was both a painter and book illustrator. The titles of three of these books which included pictures of flowers and (or) birds are shown below. Gesshō's semi-accurate drawings of flowers and birds show the influence of two famous painters of the Maruyama-Shijō school; namely, Goshun Matsumura and Raishō Nakajima.
